Jesus only. Yeah, I know. It seems narrow. And it’s certainly uncomfortable, even for many Christ-followers. But . . . should we always expect truth to be comfortable?
Some folks think the existence of evil and suffering proves that God doesn’t exist. Actually, if anything, it more likely proves He does.
If God is as Christians claim, loving and caring, then surely He won’t hold us accountable for believing correctly. Right?
Have you ever thought about the “counter claims” between “just one true religion” and “all religions have part of the truth but not all of it”?
President Obama’s recent decision to allow for stem cell research to expand to the human embryo is a big deal. So what are the issues at stake . . . or is it just tissue we’re talking about?
The question regarding human embryonic stem cells is not whether it’s human life. The secular scientists tell us that the human embryo is both living and distinctly human. The question then becomes, what is the nature and value of human life.
Some people think it’s not cool to talk about God in public debate/discourse. President Obama talks about “separating idealogy from the science.” Sounds okay . . . but there is human life involved here.
I don’t know if you’ve seen this really cool movie entitled “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium”. While not a theistic or Judeo-Christian movie, it asks this really big question…is there more to life than what we see? Or, in the language of the movie, “Is it just a box?”
A lot of people are generally okay with Christianity but it’s the thing about “Jesus only” which is the big turn off. How can God be fair if there’s only one way to Him? Well, here’s a new take on Christ alone.
Talk about the ultimately uncomfortable topic! Hell is a myth, right? Nobody really believes this stuff, right? Well, think about this. Isn’t hell a subject so deadly serious that at least at some point in our lives we need to take a moment and think seriously about it?
A lot of people think God is a myth? Really? What are the odds of us having a universe to begin with, much less an ordered one?
For too long the church has just been “running the machinery”. We’ve forgotten about people, serving them, and going out of our way to winsomely share the message of Christ.

One of my Christian friends in college who was studying Physics and later attended Harvard thought it was irrational for the non-believer not to consider the claims of Jesus because if a person put their trust in Him and it wasn’t true, they lost nothing, but if it was true and that meant spending eternity in hell, it would be the wiser choice to put your faith in Him than to risk the second possible outcome. I am no scholar of Jonathan Edwards, but I have read a bit of his writings, and while he did in sense, preach that the non-Christians would go to hell, I don’t think he intended that fear should be the motivation for people to accept Christ, but rather they should respond to God’s love in the Person of Jesus who rescues them from that fate.

When speaking of hell, I can’t help but think of Satan, our true enemy. I’m a beginning quilter & belong to a quilting forum. Most of the people in the forum add a “signature” to their comments, like you can do in your email. Credit goes to the quilter who wrote it, but I just had to share this one. It reads,
“Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, Satan shudders and says “Oh CRAP…she’s awake!!”
When I first read it, I laughed hard because I thought it was so funny! But the saying stuck in my head and I really started thinking about it. It says SO much. How many of us live everyday in such a way that we make Satan shudder? I know I don’t. ( Boy, I have so much growing to do that it’s pitiful.) Do we wake up everyday (or any day for that fact?) that we cause Satan to worry, much less shudder? Are we more afraid of Satan than Satan is of us? It’s like when we encounter a wild animal, we’ve all heard it- “it’s more afraid of you than you are of it” – shouldn’t that be our relationship with Satan? Shouldn’t he and his demons be more afraid of us Christians than we are of them? We all know how Satan and his demons scatter out of fear at the name of Jesus – shouldn’t they be at least worried about how we can destroy their day and plans? We know our position in Christ, who we are and Who we belong to. Or do we? If we REALLY knew and stayed conscious of it, wouldn’t we wake up everyday and make Satan shutter? We should. I know I have a lot of searching & growing to do.
